The morning after (it’s not a majority)

Dear friends, colleagues, volunteers, and everyone else we met along the way:

We wanted to take a moment to extend our deepest thanks to everyone who has given their time, passion, and imagination so generously.

We’ve made new friends and allies, learned a huge amount, and have been inspired by the overwhelming talents and dedication of all the artists and organizations who have worked so hard in this effort. You have worked in association with the Department of Culture, and on your own, creating organizations, developing initiatives, making artwork, attending rallies, canvassing, and just talking about the issues.

Your efforts have been incredible, and we thank you for all you’ve done. We look forward to seeing where this wonderful energy and momentum will lead in the days, months and years following the election–we hope it doesn’t stop here. We don’t intend it to.  Stay tuned for more in the days ahead.

In Solidarity,

Department of Culture

I saw someone from your group being interviewed at the Gladstone on CityTV. Finally I heard someone say what I have been talking about for years. That is, Harper and his gang of Neo-cons are slowing dismantling the Canada that has been built over the last 50 years. The one that was respected, admired and emulated around the world. Canadians need to wake up to what is happening to thier country before they wake up one morning and don’t reqognize it.

Cudos to your group for getting the word out.

Thank you so very much - everyone - for the past few weeks.

    Ever onward and forward

thank you for all of your work. I’ll be sure to check in here often and pass around what you say. Many bloggers fought so hard for the arts, for the environment, for our rights and freedoms in this election.

Artists have powerful voices, (which is probably why Harper wants to silence them) and we all need to work more closely with you from now on.
